About

Race-built, not rented

Race X runs race days on closed circuits in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. You either drive a V8 race car yourself with a professional coach in the seat beside you, or ride in one while somebody else does. Either way it is a real race car on a real circuit, and never a road.

The cars are not converted road cars

The Mustang and the Camaro are purpose-built from the chassis up for racing — around 650 horsepower each, on race slicks. All Race X cars are manual.

What you need to drive one

Less than people expect. You do not need to hold a manual licence or have previous manual-driving experience. Our professional driving coaches can guide you and help teach you on the day.

  • Drivers need a current learner's licence at minimum, and 50 logbook hours.
  • Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to sign the indemnity form, and that guardian must bring photo identification and a Medicare card listing both themselves and the child.
  • Everyone wears closed-in shoes. It is a track requirement, and anyone without them will not be permitted to enter the pit-lane area.

If you would rather be driven

Hot laps put you in the passenger seat with a professional at the wheel. The car shown on your booking is your preferred vehicle only — hot-lap cars are generally allocated based on availability and event operations, so your passenger laps may take place in either a Mustang or Camaro. We cannot guarantee a particular car, but both provide an incredible experience.

Bring people with you

Spectators are completely free, and we encourage you to bring your friends and family along to enjoy the day with you. Allow up to three hours from your booking time for the full Race X experience.

Everything that happens on the day, step by step, is on the On the day page. If something is not answered there or in the questions, email us before you book rather than guessing.
